The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 provides third party testing for Class B and Class C CDL licenses. Testing services are provided at the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 Transportation Facility located in Walnutport, Pennsylvania.  

To schedule a CDL test, the driver candidate must have a CDL licensed driver accompany them for the test along with the vehicle that will be used for testing, unless the driver candidate plans to use one of the CLIU’s vehicles for testing.

The CDL skills test consists of (3) three separate tests:

• CDL Vehicle Inspection Test
• CDL Basic Control Skills Test
• CDL On-Road Test

The cost of the CDL test is $150.
The cost for retests will be $0 per section tested.

If the driver candidate plans to use one of the CLIU's vehicles for testing, there will be an additional $100 fee added to the cost of the CDL test. The driver candidate must have a card of training completion, which indicates completion of the required classroom instruction and behind the wheel training, and Passenger (P) endorsement on the permit in order to be eligible to test.

The CLIU also offers all the required training in order for a driver candidate to obtain a CDL. The cost of this CDL training is $600. This includes the required 14 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind the wheel training, and the CDL skills testing for licensing. Additional training hours are available at a cost of $50 per hour.
